The Sand Springs Police Department prides itself on our relationship with our community. Our officers stand ready to assist the public not only in times of peril, but also in everyday situations where we can work together to build a better quality of life in our community. The core philosophy of employee empowerment has proven the best vehicle in allowing our officers and employees to think independently and to do their best for our citizens. We are very proud how involved our officers are with the community outside of police work and this demonstrates their commitment to the citizens of Sand Springs. The Sand Springs Police Department is staffed by 33 full time sworn officers, eight dispatchers, one records clerk, one administrative assistant as well as an IT specialist. The department operates 24 hours a day and prides itself on being technologically advanced.

Chief Mike Carter started his law enforcement career with the Sand Springs Police Department in1993. He was promoted to Chief of Police in 2015. Chief Carter is a Graduate of Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also is a graduate of the 221st session of the FBI National Academy. He has been awarded the S.S.P.D. Medal of Valor, two Life Saving Awards, City Employee of the Year and twice named as Officer of the Year.
