Firefighter Recruitment

Firefighter Candidate Requirements 

  • Age as determined by the Oklahoma Firefighters and Retirement System
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver License
  • EMT Basic certification
  • IFSAC Firefighter I certification within one year of hire


Exams, Tests & Investigations

Potential candidates must be able to pass a: 

  • Written examination
  • Physical agility test 
  • Intensive background investigation 
  • Drug screening 
  • Identity requirements as set forth by federal law

How To Apply

The City of Sand Springs keeps an active position for all interested applicants to apply.  You must register and apply under the job listings tab to be considered for future testing opportunities.  Once a testing date has been established, all applicants will be notified and those who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to attend the test date.  Applicants who fail to appear without properly notifying the Human Resources department of their intent to withdraw from the application process may be subject to a one year probation with regards to future testing opportunities.
