Engine 1 - 2008 Crimson/Spartan Gladiator Pumper
Engine 1 serves as the primary engine company for northern Sand Springs. It carries 750 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 1500 gallons per minute. It carries special equipment such as hydraulic extrication tools ('Jaws of Life'), Thermal Imaging Camera and Advanced Life Support equipment. This company is staffed by a Driver/Operator, Captain and Firefighter. This apparatus also carries eighty gallons of foam to respond to flammable liquid fires.
Engine 2 - 2003 Pierce Pumper
Engine 2 serves as the primary engine company for southern Sand Springs. It carries 1000 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 1500 gallons per minute. It carries special equipment such as hydraulic extrication tools ('Jaws of Life'), Thermal Imaging Camera and Advanced Life Support equipment. Engine 2 is the second busiest truck in the City of Sand Springs and has a larger water tank capacity than the city's other pumpers due to some of the rural areas of its response territory. This company is staffed by a Driver/Operator, Captain and two Firefighters.
Reserve Engine 12 - 1996 Ferrara Pumper
Engine 12 serves as the primary reserve engine company for Sand Springs. Its normal role is to fill in whenever Engine 1 is down for preventative maintance or repairs. Engine 12 will also be staffed during periods of high call volume or during working fires by overtime firefighters. It carries 750 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 1500 gallons per minute.
Reserve Engine 22 - 1996 Pierce Pumper
Engine 22 serves as the secondary reserve engine company for Sand Springs. Its normal role is to fill in whenever Engine 12 is unavailable to operate as a reserve. Engine 22 is a sister truck to Engine 12 and allows for the SSFD to conduct comprehensive fleet preventative maintenance by having two excellent reserve apparatus to run in place of frontline trucks during their downtime.
Ladder 7 - 1991 E-One Ladder Quint
Ladder 7 serves as the only ladder company for the entire city of Sand Springs and surrounding areas. Ladder 7 is a quint and is capable of doing many engine company operations. Ladder 7's normal role is to respond to fires in buildings requiring elevated rescue or fire suppression capabilities and conduct ventilation, forcible entry and search operations. Ladder 7 is automatically recommended to respond based on the address of the incident. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 1500 gallons per minute. It carries an extensive set of forcible entry, salvage and industrial firefighting equipment. Ladder 7 is normally staffed by a Lieutenant and two Firefighters.
Rescue 1 - 2003 Pierce Heavy Rescue
Rescue 1 serves as the heavy rescue unit for the entire City of Sand Springs and surrounding areas. It carries an extensive compliment of rescue, hazardous materials and emergency medical equipment. It responds to all motor vehicle accidents in the city, as well as medical emergencies in northern Sand Springs. Specialized calls such as chemical spills, confined space rescue and water rescue incidents also summon Rescue 1. Rescue 1 has the highest call volume of any Sand Springs fire truck. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 300 gallons per minute. It has specialized equipment such as hydraulic extrication tools ('Jaws of Life'), hazardous materials sampling and detection equipment, hazardous materials offensive leak/vapor equipment, and a wide array of technical rescue equipment. It is normally staffed by a Lieutenant and two Firefighters.
Squad 1 - 2006 Ford Quick Response
Squad 1 is the primary wildland firefighting unit for northern Sand Springs. This unit is staffed by the Engine 1 crew and is capable of handling nearly all kinds of outdoor wildfire situations. Squad 1 carries various hose loads, drip torches, water backpacks and an extensive set of wildfire tools. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 200 gallons per minute. Squad 1 is identical to its sister unit, Squad 2.
Squad 2 - 2006 Ford Quick Response
Squad 2 is the primary wildland firefighting unit for southern Sand Springs. This unit is staffed by the Engine 2 crew and is capable of handling nearly all kinds of outdoor wildfire situations. Squad 2 carries various hose loads, drip torches, water backpacks and an extensive set of wildfire tools. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 200 gallons per minute. Squad 2 is identical to its sister unit, Squad 1.
Squad 12 - 1992 Ford Grass Rig
Squad 12 is the reserve wildland firefighting unit for the entire City of Sand Springs. This unit is staffed by the Rescue 1 crew on major incidents and may also be staffed by overtime personnel for special incidents or fire stand by situations. Squad 12 carries various hose loads, drip torches, water backpacks and an extensive set of wildfire tools. It carries 300 gallons of water and has a pump capacity of 200 gallons per minute. Squad 12 is a high pressure unit constructed by Mertz Fire Apparatus in Ponca City, OK.
Rescue Boat 1
Boat 1 is one of two rescue boats in the city, housed at Station 1 and pulled by Squad 12. Boat 1 also carries the Ocean ID inflatable Rapid Deployment Boat for use in hard to reach areas, ice rescue situations or in other circumstances where a larger boat is unable to be utilized. Boat 1 carries Personal Floation Devices for rescuers, civilians and children as well as two (2) ice rescue 'dry suits' for cold water entry.
Rescue Boat 2
Boat 2 is the second rescue boat for the city and is housed at Station 2 and pulled by Squad 2. Boat 2 carries the same equipment as Boat 1 minus the Ocean ID inflatable Rapid Deployment Boat.
Haz-Mat 1 - 2005 Ford Tow Vehicle with Trailer
Haz-Mat 1 is a designated response vehicle jointly owned by the Sand Springs Fire Department and the Sapulpa Fire Department. It is quartered at Fire Station 1 and is equipped to handle chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and etiological emergencies statewide. The unit was purchased by the Oklahoma Department of Homeland Security and is staffed by crews called back into work on major hazardous materials events at a statewide level. It also comes equipped with a Ford F550 tow vehicle.
