Fire TrucksSand Springs Fire Department
The Sand Springs Fire Department serves the City of Sand Springs and several small communities within Tulsa and Osage Counties in northeastern Oklahoma. We are a progressive suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma and are roughly situated five miles west of downtown Tulsa. We protect approximately 40,000 people living in 64 square miles.

Our mission “is to faithfully provide the highest standard of service to those who live, work, invest in or visit our community.  As highly trained and dedicated professionals, we stand ready to protect lives, property, and the environment from all hazards.”

Qualified Staff
The qualified staff of the Sand Springs Fire Department is the primary reason we can accomplish this mission.  As a full-time unionized department, our members are highly trained and qualified to mitigate the numerous types of emergency responses they respond to.  The Staff and Line model of operations provides the structure to manage this important task.  The Staff personnel, or Fire Administration, which is made up of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, and Fire Marshal, provide the administrative aspects of day to day operations to support the “Line”.  The firefighters, or Line personnel, are divided into three shifts that work a 24 Hour on/48 Hour off schedule to provide continuous emergency response coverage.  Each shift has Captains, Drivers and Firefighters that are trained in firefighting, emergency medical care, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue.

Fire Facilities
We further divide the shifts into three companies that operate out of two fire stations, one on each side of the Arkansas River that splits our city into north and south Sand Springs.  In addition to both fire stations, the fire department also maintains a separate physical fitness building and an administrative headquarters.

911 Center
Another key component of our department is the Sand Springs 911 Center, which is operated in the police station, and is staffed by a minimum of two E911 telecommunicators on each shift.  They are responsible to receive 911 calls, enter the appropriate information into our CAD System, dispatch necessary units via our radio system, log applicable benchmarks provided by the incident commander, and call other agencies if requested to help us resolve the situation.
