It would be great if we could have at least one splash pad in Sand Springs where families and individuals could go to cool off during the intense summer heat.

Are there, or will there ever be, any plans to improve the river in our area? It would be great to have an active water sports community in our section of the river.

There is a website called (www.RecycleBank.com) that offers recycling and sustainability training. You read short articles, redeem points from food boxes and take mini-quizzes to earn points. Then you redeem those points for different items. My favorite are the free magazine subscriptions! The online account is also free, so I hope others enjoy it as much as I have in the past couple of years! It's a really good tool to increase your 'recycling literacy'! Enjoy!

We have this really great initiative here called H.E.A.L. Sand Springs that comes from Oklahoma's health objectives which is a result from the Healthy People federal survey, which we failed. The outlined initiatives are great, but I believe we can do so much more as a community!
So... how about if we carry out our community initiatives, and reclaim our health together? Here's my proposal...
1st Healthy Eating= How about an ongoing monthly potluck of very healthy meals, along with a recipe swap!
2nd Active Living= How about weekly walks? We can eventually have three groups walking once a week at various difficulty levels. River City Parks is the flat walking trail; Clyde Boyd, the intermediate trail; 41st Street, the rigorous trail. All of them are safe walking trails for pedestrians/cyclists, and best of all... no motor vehicles to worry about.
I have a background in Health Promotion, and would absolutely love to share this with my community!
And the best part... NO COST!!!

While it appears that we now have an ordinance dealing with COVID-19 Mask Mandates, I've still noticed that businesses aren't enforcing it with respect to their customers. I've noticed that QuickTrip has been the biggest offender on this point, with Dollar General having some minor non-compliance issues as well. I've even seen a TCSO deputy go into the quick trip without a mask. Of all people law enforcement should be leading by example. We also need to be enforcing this ordinance in some manner or another. It does no good to have a law on the books that isn't being enforced in any real way.

When a victim of DV calls your police department, it has been reported that your peace officers did not follow the state laws. Not only did they not inform the victim she has the right to press charges, but they told her it was a "civil" issue. Now she is posting the pictures of her assault on social media to keep you accountable. There are no resources for DV listed on your website. DV happens everywhere. To ignore this puts your town at liability for her safety.

I believe a bond was passed to create more park areas in Sand Springs. Behind Pratt Library and next to Cedar Ridge apartments would be a perfect place for a park. Check with EVERY area of our city leadership. A family park there is a very good idea and will improve the beauty and safety of this area where many children use the library and need PROTECTION and SAFETY in that area.
